Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo Hosted Experience

Come spend the day fly fishing with Alan Hobson and enjoy a hosted Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo experience.

Alan will assist to get you started to fish waters in the Somerset East area, but will not be offering the full guided experience. He may fish the same water that you are fishing during the day.

These costs do not include guiding, rod and gate fees, tackle hire, food and drink.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Should tackle / equipment be damaged or broken, you will be liable for the replacement cost.
  • Minimum of 2 people required for the experience.
  • The experience is subject to availability and prevailing weather conditions.

Choose this hosted trip if you want a service experience, where we handle travel to the waters, and you just need to show up and fish by yourself. Alan will get you to the water, set you up to fish and point you in the right direction, so you can enjoy the days fishing by yourself.

It is recommended that if you are a novice fly fisherman to engage the services of the guide. Fast tracking your experience using the guide will add enormous value to your outing. Hosts are focused on logistics while guides offer the full Monty.

Minimum 2 people, maximum 4 people.

Additional costs:
Gate & rod fees @ R 350 per person
Hire of Rod, reel, line, leader, net & 3 flies @ R 300 per person
Any additional flies or leaders are available from the Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo fly shop;
Hire of Waders & gumboots (limited sizes available) @ R 250 per person

Start Location: Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo Shop - Somerset East

Departure Times: Morning start - approximately 8 am

Dropoff Time: Afternoon - approximately 5 pm

Dress: Comfortable clothing, preferably long sleeve & long trousers. Warm / waterproof jacket is a must, even in summer.

Fitness Level: Fishing location can be adapted to fitness level.

Pack: Fly Fishing tackle: rod, reel, tippet, net, flies, waders and boots, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, warm jacket, waterproof jacket, hat, food and something to drink.
