• Vanderkloof dam with Wild Fly Fishing in the Karoo

Vanderkloof yellowfish

Vanderkloof dam is the second largest dam in South Africa and offers incredible fishing opportunities for large mouth and small mouth indigenous yellowfish.

The dam is also home to a variety of other fish species, including barbel (cat fish), indigenous mudfish and moggel, which almost looks like a pre-historic yellowfish.

This package is fully inclusive of all equipment and fishing tackle required for a enjoyable experience.

Itinerary

Day 1

Travel to Vanderkloof Dam

Travel to Vanderkloof dam from Somerset East, and check into the accommodation. Cast a line, time permitting.

Day 2

Explore the dam

Explore Vanderkloof dam (lake) and hop off on the banks sight fishing for indigenous yellowfish, barbel (catfish), carp, mudfish and moggel. Try to catch the illusive, endangered largemouth yellowfish - catch and release only - with the chance of landing a trophy of 10lb...they have been caught over 40lb in the dam!!

Day 3

Try to land a yellow in the river

Fly fish in the rapids of the Orange River. Here the largemouth yellowfish may wake your senses, but the smallmouth yellowfish are just as exciting to catch.

Day 4

Leisure day

Take a leisurely drive to Graaff-Reinet and visit the Valley of Desolation. Spend the evening in luxury accommodation, just for a little pamper.

Day 5:

Back to the airport

After breakfast at the lodgings, we travel to Port Elizabeth, and if your flight is late enough, we can take in a game drive on the way.
